FINANCIERS
It’s very easy to lend money but a lot harder to get it back from the borrower.

How we operate
eCollect has undertaken recoveries for all areas of lending work.
We have special experience in the small to medium loan area i.e. loans under the National Credit Code up to $5000. This includes payday and similar lenders. Moving promptly with these type of debtors is essential. Debtors in the small to medium loan area are often mobile between jobs and residential locations. Making contact with them quickly allows us to develop a relationship which we hope becomes the basis for ongoing payments. ECollect understands the sensitivity in dealing with these types of debtors. There are many avenues for complaint including consumer legal centres, ASIC and AFCA. Our contact with debtors is designed to minimise the likelihood of a complaint but maximise the chances of obtaining a payment – either in full or by arrangement.
We are also developing skills in the buy-now pay-later finance businesses that are recently emerging.
Awareness of the ASIC/ACCC guidelines regarding collection practice is paramount for collection of debts due to financiers as is compliance with privacy legislation.
Where there is the ability to make a default to one of the credit report reporting bureaux, then this can provide a significant incentive for payment.
Increasingly, there is a class of debtor that knows the rules around collection and seeks to use those rules to delay or make the collection process more difficult. eCollect takes great pride in eventually making a recovery from these more difficult debtors.
Where the finance debt is of a commercial nature, eCollect has greater freedoms to negotiate and deal with the debtors. With these debtors, the prospect of litigation is usually raised. Dealing with secured debts is well within eCollect’s capabilities. Our account managers understand the legal basis of commercial debts and have experience in dealing with guarantors, mortgages over real estate and businesses, assignments of debt and other options for collection directly from the debtor.
